Five Star Cooperative Breaks Ground on New Fertilizer Facility in Lime Springs

Lime Springs, Iowa – Five Star Cooperative held a groundbreaking event to celebrate the start of construction on a new state-of-the-art dry fertilizer facility at its Lime Springs location. The new facility will feature a storage capacity of just over 3,000 tons and will include both inbound and outbound impregnation capability for nitrogen stabilizers and fertilizer enhancement products. With efficient receiving capabilities of 200 tons per hour and blending technology capable of producing up to 350 tons per hour of straight product.
“Just one year ago, Five Star proudly welcomed our Lime Springs location,” stated Tony Myers, Chief Operations Officer. “It was built on a respected, family-owned business with a long tradition of delivering outstanding agricultural products and exceptional customer service to growers across southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. Today, we are building on that legacy.”
The new fertilizer plant reflects Five Star Cooperative’s continued commitment to meeting the needs of area growers while supporting the future of agriculture in north Iowa and southern Minnesota. By expanding capacity and incorporating advanced treatment capabilities, the facility ensures that members in and around Lime Springs will have access to timely, high-quality fertilizer solutions.
Groundwork is beginning immediately, with construction progressing over the coming months. Once completed, the Lime Springs facility will strengthen Five Star Cooperative’s ability to deliver value and enhance service across the region. This project is expected to create opportunities for their members, team members, and the Five Star region.
